The Village Concept

Villages will be designed to include conventionally constructed homes surrounding a central complex of modular homes and business sites.   The central complex will all be based on a proprietary concept called the QuadCom.   At the center of each 16-home QuadCom is a full acre of land and each QuadCom connects with the others through enclosed walkways.   Architects will design the Villages, but they have not yet been engaged, so the image on the left is just a conceptual, computer-generated view of a QuadCom.   Two sections of each Village home will be constructed off-site and joined with on-site, custom construction.   Commercial buildings will be located on each corner of the QuadComs (Click on left image, Back Arrow to return).   The accessible, enclosed passageway behind the homes will allow members to walk, under cover, to and from the business sites where Villagers may shop and work.   The commercial buildings will be suitably blended with the village homes.

Pilot Village
A pilot Village was planned for Londonderry Township near Middletown, PA.   The pilot Village would have include businesses, such as a grocery store an urgent-care medical center and a restaurant in one of the corner buildings.   The strategy of a City of God Village is to tailor its businesses and activities to the talents and callings of the Village residents.   Here is a satellite view showing how the pilot village would have fit on the parcel we had been studying.   The site was a beautiful, three-parcel section of land, close to a Highway 283 exit, and bordered by Harrisburgh Pike, School House Road, Beagle Road and Deodate Road.   Greenfield Architects Ltd. were to design the pilot Village and Ritz-Craft Corporation in Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania was planned to build the modules, joined with on-site construction by Hess Home Builders.   Landscape architecture was to be done by RGS Associates.   Home sales and leases were to be handled by Town & Country Realty and mortgages provided by Wells Fargo Home Mortgage.   The cultivated land on the right was to be used for farming.

Although the City of God Village fit perfectly into the Township's Traditional Neighborhood Development (TND) plans, the Township gave into Amazon's wish to build a huge warehouse on the site, absolutely destroying its beauty.

Another site is being sought.
